Student Reflections
"What was surprising about the project with my peers was we all had the potential and capability to do something we've never done before. It was exciting to start a new journey with Girls Build LA and experience what it is like to work as a team. We learned how to overcome obstacles that we wouldn't have been able to do ourselves. We had the chance to meet with many amazing individuals that helped us along the way with the project. Having the opportunity to have our own website and get the word out about Bullying was an incredible feeling for us because we know how it affects us and others. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't have changed anything, my classmates made the experience better along with my teacher. Our project was something we are really passionate about and we can really get behind. Thank you for letting us have the opportunity to be apart of the community of girls that are just as passionate." - Sandra
"Over the course of the project there were many challenges we come across, but we worked together to problem solve. Even though we encountered some thing we had not expected we looked for help in each other, which caused us to both learn and bond with one another. One thing that surprised me was how much it felt like the community was behind us every step of the way. The community helped us with our Bully Awareness Carnival and getting the word out that bullying is really a prevalent issue that needs to be eradicated. I'm really happy that I had the chance to be apart of something bigger than just me. Girls Build LA shows how we can help build our communities with our peers and be a beacon light for our community. The chance to work with this amazing group of girls was a incredible experience that I will never forget. If I had to do it all over again I would not hesitate a second to be apart of it. I want to say thanks to the Girl Build LA community for letting us be apart of this amazing project." - McKayla
"Looking back on the beginning and the process of applying I was all for and excited. It was like a rush of joy went throughout my body. Towards the middle I hadn't realized how much work it was going to be. I don't know why I thought it would be so easy. I was surprised by the amount of help we were given to be able to get nearer to accomplishing our goal. If I was given another chance of doing the process differently I would have wanted to stop procrastinating, which is a major problem I possess." - Larena
